Aperture Comparison

While I was a Wallace Falls State Park I took a bunch of shots metered exactly the same but at different apertures. This is just kind of a fun thing to look at.

The shots are all taken with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 Mark II at ISO 100. There are 8 photographs take at f/1.8, f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/13 and f/22 (in that order).

Canon dSLR Quick Guide

I have made a quick guide for Canon dSLR cameras. The terms can be generalized to suit any camera brand. It basically contains BRIEF explanations of camera settings and exposure controls. There is also a section on setting up a startrails image. If anyone has ideas for how to improve the guide please let me know! The full PDF file is meant to be printed, folded in half and then laminated (this is just a JPG version for the web).

Picnic Point HDR Image

This is my first attempt at making an HDR (High Dynamic Range) image. Which where you combine 2 images (with the same subject) with 2 different exposure settings. This can be accomplished in Adobe Photoshop by first layering two images and then creating a layer mask. Then you choose the eraser tool and remove the over/under exposed portion of the image revealing the underlying layer. This image was also then touched up with the burn/dodge tool.
